Jamie Hargreaves

Jamie Hargreaves is an adventurer, cyclist and writer from England. In 2024, aged twenty two, he set out by bicycle from England to Australia, following a journey his father had made forty years earlier at exactly the same age. Over eighteen months and approximately 25,000 kilometres, Jamie travelled across Europe and Asia, retracing his father’s route where he could and forging a new one where the modern world demanded it.

His journey took him through the Caucasus, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Himalayas before continuing through Southeast Asia to Australia. Along the way, Jamie recreated photographs from his father’s original journey, returning to the same places four decades apart.

What began as an attempt to retrace a bicycle ride became a journey into his father’s past, and an exploration of what changes between generations and what remains. His adventures have been featured by the BBC, ITV, Channel 9 and national and outdoor publications. The Road We Share: A 40 Year Legacy is his first book.
