Faisal Lawal
Faisal Lawal is a London-based writer whose fiction explores psychological trauma, memory, queerness, and moral ambiguity within West African postcolonial landscapes, specifically Northern Nigeria, a very underrepresented area in literature. Excerpts from his debut literary thriller, Bako and The Birds, received the Mary Prince Memorial Award from the UK Black Writers’ Guild. His work blends literary depth with thriller elements, and he is drawn to stories that examine the instability of identity and the weight of history. He is, despite this, quite cheerful in person.
